چکیده

Background The EC-directive 2006/141/E requires objective and scientifically verified data to claim hypoallergenicity of hydrolysed formulae. However, no validated animal models are currently available to assess the residual sensitising capacity, although guinea pig assays are frequently used. This study is part of a multi-phase project which aims to validate a recently developed mouse model to assess the potential allergenicity of hydrolysed cow’s milk based infant formulae. The discriminatory power of a mouse allergy model for cow’s milk allergy to distinguish sensitizing properties of cow’s milk products was evaluated in 4 independent research centers.

The effect of a partially hydrolysed formula based on rice protein in the treatment of infants with cow’s milk protein allergy

Infants diagnosed with allergy to cow's milk protein (CMP) are fed extensively hydrolysed cow's milk formulas, modified soy formulas or even amino acid-based formulas. Hydrolysed rice protein infant formulas have become available and have been shown to be well tolerated by these infants. A prospective open, randomized clinical study to compare the clinical tolerance of a new hydrolysed rice pro...

An extensively hydrolysed rice protein-based formula in the management of infants with cow's milk protein allergy: preliminary results after 1 month

BACKGROUND Guidelines recommend extensively hydrolysed cow's milk protein formulas (eHF) in the treatment of infants diagnosed with cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA). Extensively hydrolysed rice protein infant formulas (eRHFs) have recently become available, and could offer a valid alternative. METHODS A prospective trial was performed to evaluate the clinical tolerance of a new eRHF in infan...

حساسیت‌زدایی خوراکی در کودکان مبتلا به آلرژی به شیر گاو: کارآزمایی بالینی آینده‌نگر

Background: Cow's milk protein allergy (CMPA) is the most common food allergy during the first year of life. Strict avoidance of specific foods is the only accepted treatment for food-induced allergic reactions. This is often an unrealistic therapeutic option, since cow's milk is a basic food that is extensively used in infant formula. The recent preliminary experience of oral desensitization t...

Allergens of Animal Origin: Stability and Allergenicity of Processed Foods

This article reviews recent data on the stability of cow's milk, hen's egg, fish, crustaceae, and meat allergens during food processing. Generally, allergens of food origin are stable and highly potent. Most severe allergic reactions, including fatal events, can be due to ingestion of cow's milk, hen's egg, fish, and shrimp. The allergenicity could be altered potentially by various procedures s...

An extensively hydrolysed cow's milk formula improves clinical symptoms of gastroesophageal reflux and reduces the gastric emptying time in infants.

BACKGROUND About 20 % of infants fed with breast-milk substitutes suffer from Gastro Esophageal Reflux (GER) and 1/3 of them also show Cow's Milk Allergy (CMA) symptoms. METHODS We planned this study to assess by dynamic echography the usefulness of an Extensively Hydrolysed Cow's Milk Formula (eHF) in infants suffering from GER. Ten infants showing GER symptoms and 10 normal babies, all fed ...
